What is COACHING?

COACHING TAKES YOU FROM WHERE YOU ARE TO WHERE YOU WANT TO BE.

What is the difference between coaching and counseling? Which form of help would best suit your needs?
In a nutshell, coaching is about the future and counseling focuses on the past.
Counseling is used for those who are in need of therapy in order to find healing from their past wounds, and to overcome the disruptive and painful influences from their pasts that prevent them from finding freedom in life. Coaching, on the other hand, is a helpful method used to assist people in building vision and moving toward the future in a proactive, rather than a reactive, way. Building skills and strengths and assisting people to see improvements and beneficial changes in their lives is the goal of coaching.
Coaching at its core is “the art and practice of guiding a person or group from where they are toward the greater competence and fulfillment that they desire” (Collins). Or, as Lou Tice would say, “coaching is helping others to feel inspired and motivated to grow themselves.”
